Japanese anemones often herald the start of autumn as they commence flowering in late August and can often flower until October. They really are worth planting at the back of a shady border, they act as a good backdrop for other flowers during the summer months and then come into their own at this time of year when they flower.
They come in whites and pinks and as single and double flowers. Being perennial they die back in the winter and come back every year with their delicate flowers flower. The height varies from 30 cm to 100cm, they are best grown in dappled shade, keep watered until well established when the will romp away with little attention.
A must for your autumn garden!
